Ally’s Party Favour: Make Your Own Green Smoothie Cubes
We currently have a fairy small fridge, and I often need to prioritise what fruit and veg I can store in it. Making green smoothie cubes is a great way to clear up some room in the fridge, as I often buy beets with leaves, kale and spinach in the same week for different recipes.
While I used to use my juicer to make these cubes, I found they freeze a lot easier if you blend your greens with a little water. Using these smoothie cubes is as simple as throwing a handful in with your daily smoothie ingredients and blitzing it all up! Tada, instant green smoothie š
- 1 bunch of greens (kale, spinach, beet greens, silverbeet etc)
- 1 cup water
- Roughly cut up your greens, discarding any stems and wash under running water. Add to bowl of your blender until loosely packed to the top rim. Add 1 cup of water. If you can only fill half way up blender, use ½ cup water and etc.
- Blend on high until smooth, then pour into 2 ice cube trays. Freeze for several hours or until overnight and 'crack' icecubes out of tray into storage container. Keep frozen until needed.
- Add a handful of Green Smoothie Cubes to your favourite smoothie recipes instead of normal ice cubes.

32C and moving house! Yikes, that sounds a teeny bit stressful!

Everything is a bit stressful at the moment Emma, but I just keep soldiering through š I’m sure Wholehearted Eats would be thrilled to hear how much you love the raw milkshake and thanks for sharing your Raspberry Almond Smoothie, it’s looks like creamy, dreamy goodness!
So many great drinks from last week! Your smoothie cubes look great too, anything frozen is mighty appealing at the moment! Good luck with the move – are you moving far?

It’s true about frozen stuff being fabulous now Liz; this heat is killing me! We’re not moving far, still in Melbourne but moving closer to my bf’s work. Still looking for a place, but I just need to get my garden in control as there is a lot of bulky stuff to relocate!
Loving your Citrus Iced Tea, perfect for today’s weather š
Love the idea of making your own green smoothie cubes.
Good luck with moving the veggie garden, it doesn’t sound like an easy job especially not with the heat we have been having.
I think I love the carrot cake smoothie best of all š

Great post! It’s just amazing to make green smoothie cubes. I buy too many vegetables each time and i am sad to throw them away for going bad. Now i can make good use of my vegetables. Thanks for your post!

I’m the same Steve – always buying too many vegies! I hope the smoothie cubes come in handy, I know I’ve got a few trays of cubes in my freezer at the moment š Please forgive me for the very late reply, I’ve been away from blogging for a little while.
